🧛 Characters
Four Crawlers anchor the launch roster. Two are unlocked immediately; Poe and Arca require dungeon milestones. Each passive reshapes how you think about Mana Chains.
⚔️ Antonio Belpaese — The Warrior
Difficulty: Beginner
Unlock: Available from the start.
Starter: 🩸 Whip
Passive: Starts each run with an additional 0-cost Charge card. Every 5 levels, gains a permanent +5 Max HP bonus.
Aggressive melee attacker. Build toward Bloody Tear evolution as fast as possible. Front-load your deck with 0-cost and 1-cost attack cards to chain reliably.
Best evolutions
Bloody Tear, Thousand Edge
Tips
- Prioritise Hollow Heart in Inlaid Library floors — it is the Bloody Tear ingredient.
- A small 12-card deck lets you cycle to Whip more consistently each turn.
- Keep at least two Wild Cards to bridge gaps in your 0→1→2 Mana Chain.
- The +5 Max HP passive stacks up fast — do not skip Power-Up HP upgrades in the village.
📚 Imelda Belpaese — The Scholar
Difficulty: Intermediate
Unlock: Available from the start.
Starter: 🪄 Magic Wand
Passive: Each time you play a yellow Consumable card, gain +5% permanent XP bonus (stacks up to +90%). On reaching level 10, +1 card draw added to opening hand.
XP snowball engine. The goal is to stall early (leave one enemy alive), cycle yellow Consumables to stack 50–90% XP, then explode power curve once higher levels are reached. Holy Wand evolution is her endgame weapon.
Best evolutions
Holy Wand, Unholy Vespers
Tips
- Leave one weak enemy (a Bat or Rose) alive and spend 3–5 full turns cycling yellow cards before finishing the encounter.
- Attractorb is your best friend: playing it draws 2 cards, enabling longer yellow-card chains in a single turn.
- Never evolve Attractorb into La Borra early — you lose the draw engine that powers your XP stacking.
- Spellbinder (0-cost) extends combat turn length at no Mana Chain cost, keeping the chain alive.
- Target 60%+ XP bonus before Floor 2 to make level thresholds noticeably faster.
🛡️ Poe Ratcho — The Rogue
Difficulty: Advanced
Unlock: Unlock by completing Mad Forest Floor 3.
Starter: 🛡️ Armor
Passive: Each time you play a blue Armor/Shield card, draw 1 card immediately. If you draw into another blue card, the effect triggers again — creating a potential infinite draw loop.
Draw-engine and infinite-combo specialist. Build a deck almost entirely of blue Armor cards + Attractorb (draw 2). The loop: play Armor → draw → play Armor → draw → repeat. With enough blue cards, you can cycle your entire deck in one turn, achieving theoretically unlimited Mana Chain multipliers.
Best evolutions
NO FUTURE, La Borra
Tips
- Target deck size of 15–18 cards, all blue, to maximise infinite-loop consistency.
- Attractorb is the key enabler: it draws 2 cards and IS blue, so it triggers Poe's passive again.
- DO NOT add non-blue attack cards early — they break the loop by wasting draw triggers.
- Once the loop is established, add ONE high-damage weapon as the finisher (Runetracer for NO FUTURE).
- ⚠️ WARNING from the community: infinite loops can cause the game to slow down. The game has a soft cap — do not intentionally seek infinite turns in early floors.
- Against the Purple Reaper (Death), Poe's armor loop is the most reliable survival strategy.
🔥 Arca Ladonna — The Pyromancer
Difficulty: Intermediate
Unlock: Unlock by completing Inlaid Library Floor 2.
Starter: 🔥 Fire Wand
Passive: Fire Wand costs 0 Mana for Arca (instead of 1). Sets enemies on fire: burning enemies take +15% damage from all sources for 2 turns.
Fire damage specialist with a powerful passive cost-reduction. Since Fire Wand is 0-cost, she can use it to start or extend Mana Chains without breaking flow. Hellfire evolution turns her into a full-screen AoE monster.
Best evolutions
Hellfire, Death Spiral
Tips
- Use Fire Wand as your 0-cost chain starter — it deals real damage AND opens the chain.
- Stack Spinach early to boost Fire Wand base damage before evolution.
- The burn debuff (+15% damage taken) stacks with Mana Chain multipliers — apply burn first, then chain into your highest-damage finisher.
- In multi-enemy rooms, target the enemy with most HP first to get max burn mileage.
- Hellfire's burning pools linger 3 turns — position fights near pools to stack passive damage.
